STEPS

  1.  Divide hair into 3 equal ponytails from crown to nape.
  2.  Starting with the top ponytail, split it into 2 sections.  Ligihtly backcomb and spray the hair with a light hold hairspray
  3.  Take the first section and wrap it counter clockwise over the ponytail. Pin the ends of that hair out of the way across the ponytail on the opposite side.
  4.  Repeat this process on the other side, but wrap the hair clockwise around the ponytail.  Be certain that the loops are the same size and pin the hair out of the way.
  5.  Moving down to the second ponytail; divide into 2 sections and repeat the backcombing and hairspraying.
  6.  Take the first section of the second ponytail and pull it thru the loop above; pin the remaining hair out of the way on the other side of the ponytail. 
  7.  Repeat with the second section of the ponytail.
  8.  Move down to the third ponytail and repeat the process; looping the ponytail sections through the loops of the second ponytail. 
  9. Finally, pin the remaining hair under the loops and evaluate your final look for balance.

Wedding season is here!  Braids have become a highly-requested element in the trending organic bridal updos.  Learn how to create the this braided bridal look, step by step with Eric Fisher. 

PRODUCTS:

TOOLS:

  • Tail comb
  • Jumbo comb
  • Clear elastic bands

STEPS:

  1. Part the hair down the center; clip one side out of the way.
  2. Leaving the perimeter out, begin a high inverted french braid (or dutch braid) on one side of the head.
  3. Once you reach the nape area, begin to deconstruct or 'petal out' the braid.  Secure with a clip
  4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 on the opposite side.  
  5. Once you have the two french braids done, remove the clips and braid them together. 
  6. Secure with a clear elastic and flip the tail thru the hair above the elastic.
  7. Decontruct your braid as desired.
  8. Begin curling the perimeter by wrapping the hair around the curling wand in a cable curl style. Hold curls in your hand until they cool and pin them  out of the way as necessary.
  9. Spray curls with dry shampoo and break them up using a jumbo comb to loosen them. 
  10. Spray curls with a light hold hairspray and beginning at the nape, weave the curled sections into the braid.
  11. As you finish, check your final style for balance and adjust as necessary.

Updo - How-to: Fishtail Chignon

Learn how to recreate this fishtail chignon step by step with Eric Fisher.

 

PRODUCTS:

  • Dry Shampoo
  • Hairspray

TOOLS:

  • tail comb
  • bobby pins
  • hair pins
  • elastic hair ties

STEPS:

  1. Prep hair with dry shampoo
  2. Comb hair back until smooth
  3. Using your tail comb, section off a circular parting at the top of the head to start your braid
  4. Divide this circular section down the middle
  5. Add a section of hair from behind the ear and move to the opposite side, on the inside, to begin the braid
  6. Keep adding sections of hair, going from one side to the other.  Be sure to keep the sections tight as you braid
  7. Once you finish the braid, secure the ends of the hair with a clear elastic band
  8. Twist the braid and wrap it to one side, folding the braid into itself
  9. Secure the braid with large bobby pins; be sure to stick the pin straight into the hair and weave it in the hair to lock
  10. Deconstruct the braid as desired
  11. Finish with dry shampoo and /or light hold hairspray
