Business Advice from Eric Fisher: Be a Teaching Artist

Be a Teaching Artist!

How many times have you heard a client say, "I can never make my hair look like you do!"  Its the number one complaint of most clients. The second complaint is that the stylist never showed them what products were used or how to use the products at home.  Its important to teach your guest how to style their hair at home by giving them a styling lesson before they leave your chair.

Products are vitally important to the clients' success and you should stress that to duplicate any style, they need to use the same products you did. Focus on showing your guest the what, where, why, when and how. Give them knowledge by explaining exactly what you are doing, step-by-step.  Explain why you chose each product and tool. Involve your client in the process and give them more than they pay for with that styling lesson.

Be a leader by walking your guest down the path of knowledge and teaching them the proper way to do their hair.

Remember, if they don't look good - YOU don't look good.  So be a teaching artist!

Thanks,

Eric Fisher
